About Us
The Gay & Lesbian Center of Bakersfield is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization serving the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender community of Greater Bakersfield.
Above all, the Center strives to provide a safe, comfortable and inviting place for the LGBT community to meet, socialize and network. In addition to providing an inviting place and positive environment, the Center seeks to improve the wellbeing of LGBT people in the Bakersfield area by providing social, cultural, and educational programs and activities, plus an extensive referral network. Furthermore, the Center seeks to strengthen the connection between the LGBT community and the entire Bakersfield area community by fostering diversity, tolerance, and greater understanding of sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression.
Our Mission Statement
The Center is an easy access hub providing a safe, supportive space and services to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The Center also serves as a bridge to the greater Bakersfield community.

Seeking Interested Persons to Join GLCB Board of Directors
We are looking for Board members with the time and financial commitment, leadership, creative vision, professional experience, personal integrity, enthusiasm, and collegiality to work collectively with the Board and volunteers. We are committed to considering Board members for appointment that are diversely representative of the community, have the skills and experience the Center needs to operate and be successful, and may have already participated, volunteered at or donated to the Center. Board members are expected to attend all Board and committee meetings, which occur at least once a month, as well as participate in various Center activities. (Board Meetings are currently the 2nd Monday of each month and committee meetings are set as needed)
